Bachelor's Programs

BLS in General Studies - Autism Studies

The Autism Studies concentration of the BLS in General Studies focuses on knowledge and techniques to educate and assist individuals within the Autism Spectrum. It consists of eight courses in total: five theoretical courses approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and three practicum (field experience) courses that are also approved by the BACB.

Master of Science (MS) Degree Programs

MS in Education - Deaf and Hard of Hearing PK-12 Certification

The MS in Education - Deaf and Hard of Hearing PK-12 Certification degree prepares educators to acquire the competencies specifically needed to support learning and development in children with hearing loss. Upon graduation, you will also have earned a Pennsylvania-issued PK-12 certification with reciprocity in many states.

Certification Programs

Autism Spectrum Disorders Endorsement

The endorsement is a post-master's program designed for educators. The curriculum consists of four courses that provide a thorough foundation in the principles, ethics, and methods of best practices in ASD education for individuals of all ages.

Autism Studies Certificate (Post-baccalaureate)

This certification curriculum consists of eight courses divided between five courses that provide an introduction to autism theories, techniques, treatment and therapies and three practicum courses that incorporate field experience. The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) has approved this eight-course sequence as meeting the coursework and the field experience requirements for taking the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) Examination.

Instructional Technology Specialist Certification

Curriculum is designed to provide you with the fundamental knowledge of the core principles of Instructional Technology. It features:

  • Nine courses and an internship
  • Eligibility to apply for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification
  • Ability to receive MS in Instructional Technology with an additional elective course

Online Accelerated Teaching Certification (OATCERT)

The 27-credit OATCERT program is designed to aid working professionals in earning their initial secondary (grades 7-12) teaching certificate or a master's degree in Secondary Education within one of the traditional content areas:

Pennsylvania PK-12 Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification

This program prepares educators for certification and to acquire the competencies specifically needed to support learning and development in children with hearing loss. It may be combined with a master’s degree (for only 6 more credits) or completed as a stand-alone option. You are required to:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree
  • Have basic sign language competency
  • Be Level 1 certified (or have equivalent education/experience) to work with deaf/hard of hearing students
